Course description

It’s structured around four key areas, each handled in its own big section:

  • Phonics: Covers letter‑sound relationships—like consonants, short and long vowels, digraphs ("sh," "ch"), blends, etc. It walks you through recognizing and sounding out different spellings and patterns.

  • Word Structure: Breaks words apart using base words, prefixes, suffixes, syllables—handy when you see a long word and think, "Where do I even begin?"  .

  • Vocabulary: Teaches new words in context, explores synonyms/antonyms, and uses word‑sorting activities to help your brain really notice patterns in meaning and form.

  • Dictionary Skills: Helps you master alphabetical order, letter guides, pronunciation keys, parts of speech, homonyms, multiple meanings, and how to look up words properly.

It’s not just theory—each section mixes teaching pages with hands-on practice, quick reviews, and little assessments. There’s even an answer key so you can check your work.

I really dug this one. It doesn’t just throw definitions at you—it literally makes you do things. From sounding out “ship” or “thrush,” to breaking down “unbelievable,” to hunting down meanings in a dictionary, it’s got a little of everything. Feels kind of like a workout for your language brain—super rewarding when you crack a tough word or learn a cool new one. Some parts felt a bit repetitive, but that’s kind of the point—practice makes you better. And the answer key is clutch when you want to check yourself. Not gonna lie, by the end I was actually pulling out a real dictionary more often. Solid all‑rounder.
