Course description

The book is designed to help children learn science by doing, not just by reading. It covers three big areas of physical science. Each section starts with a main idea and then walks kids through mini experiments or observations to help them understand how things work in the real world.

The instructions are super simple, and each activity uses easy-to-find items — like blocks, balls, flashlights, paper, water, etc. The book encourages kids to observe, predict, test, and talk about what they see. It also mixes in a few questions to help them think and understand why something happens, like why a toy rolls faster on a smooth floor or how light makes shadows.

It’s a perfect mix of learning and playing.

Oh wow, this book was so much fun! It’s full of cool little experiments that actually work and make sense. I really liked the ones with water — like when we froze it and then watched it melt, or when we made it “disappear” (okay, evaporate). That felt kind of like magic but we got to see how it happened. The one where we tested which stuff floats or sinks was funny too — I thought the rock would float just because it was small… nope! And using your hand as a ruler? That was hilarious, because everyone’s measurements were different. I also liked the magnet parts near the end — those were like doing science with secret powers. One magnet held so many paper clips, I didn’t expect that. Even the things I usually think are kind of boring — like measuring — were way better because we used toys and fruit and plastic bowls. It wasn’t like “sit and read,” it was “get up and do stuff,” and I liked that. Some parts were messy (like the air-in-the-cup thing with water), but it was totally worth it. Science should always be like this.
